Paul Goydos and Justin Leonard are the first-day leaders of the Valero Texas Open, which is being played at La Cantera Golf Club in San Antonio.
The two Americans carded seven-under-par 63s to ensure they finished the opening round one stroke clear of the field.
Another US pair, Jeff Maggert, Ted Purdy, as well as Australian Marc Leishman ended on six under par.
There are only two Englishman taking part in the tournament, but they have performed well so far.
Brian Davis and Greg Owen are inseparable on five under par, and will be confident of maintaining their challenge at the top of the leaderboard over the next few days.
As well as joint-leader Leonard, there are a number of former Major winners participating in Texas. The best-performing ones - Lee Janzen, Corey Pavin and David Duval - are all three shots off the lead.
