Actually, "lousy" might be too generous a description. According to a New York Post source, the striped one "never tips."
"Whenever Tiger was in Las Vegas, there was a woman who would hang out with his group, sort of as a local guide," the source told The Post. "They would have a great time but Tiger never tips. Ever. She had to stop going out with him because it would cost her three or four hundred bucks every time they went out, since she had to keep tipping for him. Even though he paid the bill, people knew her, so (to not leave a gratuity) would reflect badly on her."
It's not like Woods, 33, is hurting for cash. In addition to the 14 major championships and 65 PGA Tour events he's won, he's hauled in more than $82 million on the course and reportedly almost 10 times that much off of it.
He also hasn't been reluctant to spend a buck. A couple years ago he plunked down more than $40 million for property on Jupiter Island, near Palm Beach, Fla. Last year he added a six-acre estate in the Hamptons for $65 million. And when he travels, he often stays on his 155-foot, $20 million yacht, Privacy.
He also has been generous with charity, especially through his own Tiger Woods Foundation.
Woods is still recuperating from reconstructive knee surgery that ended his 2008 season after he won the U.S. Open. He's expected to be back on tour later this month or in March. Meanwhile, he's working hard on his game.
But apparently, not on his tipping.
